Speaking about the incident, Fernandes said, “I don’t want to see my manager saying certain things about the team because I know he doesn’t feel that. In a moment of rage — and I am Portuguese, so I understand this well — sometimes the blood rises too quickly.”
As United prepare for a crucial test against Fulham, Amorim’s fiery style and Fernandes’ rallying cry underline the urgency of turning the tide in a season that has yet to meet the lofty expectations of players and fans alike.
Despite Amorim’s hard-hitting remarks, Fernandes revealed they have catalysed improvement. “It fired me up. Criticism like that makes you want to prove yourself,” he admitted. Fernandes emphasised the importance of using each game as an opportunity to restore the club to its former glory.
The deadline for Arsenal to confirm their intent to appeal was lunchtime on Monday, and the Gunners had until 13:00 GMT on Tuesday to make their full submission to the FA. They have now done this. The appeal will now be reviewed by an independent panel, including former players.

The latest to agree that a yellow card would have been a better call is Dale Johnson of who writes that “there are clear grounds for the VAR to intervene and downgrade to a yellow card” and it “should have been downgraded to yellow on review”.
